This Greek-Revival building built in 1846 served as the Norfolk County Courthouse until 1960. It is now home to the Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center, a popular Portsmouth, Virginia attraction. The museum hosts two spacious galleries of ever-changing exhibits as well as a variety of workshops, lectures, classes and performances that showcase art by regional and world-renowned artists in Olde Towne. The courtyard is usually a buzz with artist demonstrations and live music on First Friday’s from May through October. Visitors can explore the Gift Shop for a variety of hand-made jewelry, scarves, and other accessories. Find books, sculptures, and works of local artists for sale too.
The building’s Art Annex and courtyard are available for meetings and small receptions.
