The Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center Presents Embracing Narrative: Artwork of the Washington Glass School & Virginia Glass Guild The Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center presents, Embracing Narrative, a joint exhibition offering contemporary glass by members of the Washington Glass School and the Virginia Glass Guild. Works on display, through June 4th, range from installations to wall and pedestal presentations, from neon to blown, lamp-work and kiln-casting techniques, combined with sculptural media. For this exhibition, artists mine innovative ways to present glass with new meaning and expression.
The exhibition was juried by Diane Wright, the Carolyn and Richard Barry Curator of Glass at the Chrysler Museum of Art, and Sheila Giolitti, owner of Mayer Fine Art Gallery. The Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center joins with regional partners, art centers, and the Chrysler Museum of Art to celebrate innovation in the burgeoning glass movement in our area.
