Hard Times Go Skate Weekend

June 19 and June 21, 2021 at the Cradock Skatepark

Go Skate Daze promotional flyerThe Hard Times Skateshop located in Historic Cradock, a neighborhood in Portsmouth, Virginia, hosts a Go Skate Weekend in conjunction with the Juneteenth holiday weekend.  June 19th is recognized officially as Juneteenth, a day to celebrate freedom for all people and the end of slavery.  June 21st is the internationally recognized Go Skate Day, when skateboarders around the globe celebrate the pure exhilaration, creativity, and spirit of one of the most influential activities in the world by blowing off all other obligations to go skateboarding. The purpose this event is to educate, increase awareness, and celebrate Juneteenth and the diverse skateboarding culture.

 

Juneteenth Jam (June 19, 2021)

We will have a free skateboard contest for all ages hosted /MC by professional skater Clyde Singleton. Beginners, intermediate, and advanced skaters test their skill in a jam format.  The Top 5 participants for each group will receive prizes. A live DJ will maintain the vibe of the event throughout the contest and intermission.  There will be free/paid games and activities for spectators to enjoy.  (Cornhole, Dunking Booth, Food Vendors, Retail Vendors, etc.}. Hard Times Juneteenth Jam will start at 11AM and end around 5PM.  Vendors, volunteers, and staff will arrive approximately at 7:30AM to begin set up and run through event Plan of Action.

 

Hard Times Go Skate Day (June 21, 2021)

Hard Times will host several free beginner skate camps for various age groups and host impromptu skate contests throughout the day.   Local skaters/roller-skaters/jammers will do a demonstration.  The day ends with refreshments and prizes for the festivities of the day.  Staff, volunteers will arrive approx. at 8AM to begin set up and run through event Plan of Action.

Hard Times Skate Shop is located inside of Cradock’s Historic Afton Square Shopping Centre at 67 Afton Parkway, Portsmouth, VA 23702. Just a few blocks away from George Washington Skate Park. Some of the things that set them apart from our competitors are exceptional customer service, free WiFi , a knowledgeable staff and special orders, all in a comfortable atmosphere. Not your typical skate shop, Hard Times carries a little something for everyone.  SKATEBOARDING is always their first priority. Core skate companies provide the majority of footwear, apparel, and skate goods. Customers enjoy some great items from exciting non-skate brands too. The shop is open 7 days a week.
