Three Portsmouth Pubs Receive Recognition from Veer Magazine Readers
Veer Magazine, a popular lifestyle publication covering the Coastal Virginia region (the 757) has released its 2019 winners in the beer category. According to the article, “A combination of online popular votes and a select committee of tasters weighed in. With more than 30 local breweries, this year’s competition was especially exciting, and one thing is abundantly clear — there’s a lot of great beer being produced in the 757 region. In fact, it has never been this good for local consumers. In addition to medals presented in the beer style categories, awards were also given for a variety of brewery categories as well as for restaurants, festivals, food trucks, and retail outlets.”
From Portsmouth, the Bier Garden, Legend’s Brewing Depot, and MoMac Brewing all took home awards from this year’s competition.

The Bier Garden received the following awards:
GOLD:Â Best Beer with Interior Atmosphere
SILVER: Best Beer Event (Non Festival/Non Brewery) for “Samichlaus Tapping at the Bier Garden”
SILVER: Best Overall Bottle/Can Beer Selection
BRONZE: Best Overall Draft Selection (21+ taps)
MoMac Brewing Company received the following awards:
GOLD: P.O.E.T.S. Day ESB. British/Scottish Ale
For those with inquiring minds, POETS stands for Piss Off Early Tomorrow’s Saturday
SILVER: Tropical IPA. Collaboration with Big Ugly Brewing
BRONZE: The Purple Lady. Fruit Beer.
