The Olde Towne Civic League is once again producing their annual Ghost Walk. The 39th annual event takes place on October 25th and serves as the primary fundraising event to help maintain the 300 year old neighborhood for both residents and visitors to Portsmouth, Virginia. About The Olde Towne Ghost Walk In Portsmouth, Virginia
Based on the Jack-the-Ripper Walks in London, participants in the 39th Annual Olde Towne Ghost Walk will be treated to some of the most haunting stories of Portsmouth’s past.
Guides take spectators on a walk past haunted houses and mansions of Olde Towne, a 20-square block, 500 building area on the National Register of Historic Places. At each house on the tour, actors in appropriate costume will retell the legends of ghostly visitations and things that go bump in the night. Cameras are welcome. TIME: 7PM, 8PM, 9PM Tours – Groups begin their tour in five minute intervals leaving the Trinity Church graveyard. Choose your time slot, arrive any time in that hour, and be entertained in the line while waiting for your tour to begin. Anyone in line by 9:30 pm will be eligible for a tour. The last tour will end at approximately 10:30 pm.
LOCATION: Tours begin in the graveyard of Trinity Episcopal Church, corner of Court and High Streets in Olde Towne (500 Court Street, Portsmouth, VA)
LENGTH OF GHOST WALK: The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes, ending at Middle Street Park, where hot cider will be served. There will be entertainment, information, and more.
PARKING: Free parking in municipal parking garages located on County and High Street and on Middle Street. Limited on-street parking in Olde Towne business district.
CLOTHING: Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
TICKETS: Tickets are available online. They will also available at advance ticket locations for $10 per person beginning October 1st. In person ticket locations will be posted on the website. Children under 5 years old are free. Cash or checks payable to Olde Towne Civic League are accepted at the advanced ticket locations. Credit cards are accepted only at North Street Landing Visitors Center in Portsmouth (North Street Ferry Landing). Tickets are also sold the evening of event while supplies last.
